Meet Lucas Suero: Bringing a New Generation of Leadership to Heathwood Assisted Living & Memory Care

At Heathwood Assisted Living & Memory Care, preparing for the future starts with understanding what has made the community special for decades: its people, its culture, and its commitment to providing residents with a place they are proud to call home.

Lucas Suero, Heathwood’s Director of Strategic Development, brings a unique combination of hospitality expertise, hands-on experience, and a longstanding connection to senior living. A graduate of Cornell University’s Nolan School of Hotel Administration with a degree in hospitality management, Lucas will bring that background to Heathwood and help shape the community’s continued growth and development.

A Fourth Generation in Senior Living

As the fourth generation of the Chur family to be involved in senior living, Lucas also brings a deep understanding of the organization's values. His connection to Heathwood, however, extends well beyond his family history. He has worked across several areas of the community, from serving residents in the dining room during the COVID-19 pandemic to joining the maintenance team during apartment renovations and the construction of Heathwood’s new addition.

For Heathwood, Lucas represents both continuity and forward momentum, bringing together the organization’s longstanding commitment to compassion, dignity, and excellence with a fresh perspective on the future of assisted living and memory care.

As the fourth generation of the Chur family involved in senior living, I am committed to learning every part of the organization while helping preserve the culture of compassion, dignity, and excellence that has defined Heathwood and Elderwood for decades,” Lucas says.

That perspective gives Lucas a strong foundation for his role in strategic development. With an understanding of Heathwood at both the resident and operational levels, his focus will be on identifying opportunities for growth and improvement that strengthen the experience of residents, families, and team members while helping shape Heathwood’s future.

Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter at Heathwood

Lucas brings a strong combination of hands-on knowledge, hospitality expertise, strategic perspective, and an understanding of what residents and families will expect from senior living in the years ahead.

As Director of Strategic Development, he will help shape Heathwood’s next chapter by identifying new opportunities, strengthening the resident experience, and finding thoughtful ways for the community to grow and evolve.

His focus will include how Heathwood continues to respond to changing expectations around hospitality, personalization, services, spaces, technology, and community life, while building on the values and relationships that have long defined the organization.

We are proud to have Lucas as part of the team and look forward to the ideas, initiatives, and opportunities he will bring to Heathwood. As he helps shape what comes next, we are excited to see his vision for the future take form and continue building on what makes Heathwood a special place to live and work.
